labradoodle Pup Date
Australian Labradoodle Puppies are soon here!
by Kristin Bowers on 04/05/11
I'm sorry that I have not been blogging. We stay so busy raising our labradoodles and of course our kids! Time just gets away from and before I know it it has been three months since I have posted. I promise to do better. I want to keep all our families who are patiently (or impatiently) waiting updated weekly.
We are going to have a very busy and exciting Spring. Our three beautiful Australian Labradoodle moms are all expecting their puppies within just one week of one another. Sunny will be first-due April 22. This is Sunny's fourth litter and may be her last. She produces fabulous pups and she has been a great and healthy mother. She will have mostly mini labradoodles that will be chocolate and possibly cream.
Genesee is due next on April 29. This is her second litter. She did very well with her first litter. A very quick and easy labor and she was such a relaxed and serene Mother. We are expecting black and chocolate with this litter. Jazzy is due May 6. Her mini and medium Australian labradoodles will be mostly chocolates, a few creams and even possibly chocolate and white parti. That is always fun! As soon as I have news I will post pictures and information. Promise!
Time to Wean!
by Kristin Bowers on 02/04/11
Well, let's just say that the puppies are underwhelmed with their puppy food. They MUCH prefer Mom. Mostly, they just make a mess by walking and sliding in it. Oh, but they will learn. Of that, I am confident. A few more days and they will be loving it.
Eating is all developmental and as they mature they will get it. They are really starting to play and wrestle and even bark. They have all managed to escape the whelping box, so it is time to put it away.
In this fourth week of an Australian Labradoodle puppy life, we are working on introducing new surfaces and sounds and insuring lots of family interaction.
Jade's Puppies

Wow-all the puppies have their eyes open and are actively moving around. Thir bellies are chubby and they have trouble balancing their roly poly little bodies.
At 3.5 weeks they will start to be weaned from their Momma. They start with ground puppy chow mixed with warm water to the consistency of slurry. Boy do they make a mess!!
Please plan your visits now. Next week when the pups are four weeks old, we will be scheduling your visits.
Jade's pups

Jade had her first litter of Australian labradoodle puppies on January 10. What a peaceful calm mother she is. I could hardly tell that she was in labor! She delivered 8 beautiful pups and has done so well for a first time mom.
This winter has been so cold and relentless that I couldn't resist naming the pups after our Inuit brothers and sisters to the North. So they are Akiak (brave), Amarok (wolf), Nanuq (polar bear), Tunerk (gift), Suka (fast), Sesi (snow), Sakari (sweet) and Miki (small). We really had fun finding these names for our beloved puppies.
They are two weeks old today and barely trying to open their eyes. This week they all will get their sight and their hearing. We weigh them daily and they have all doubled their birth weights and quite a few are starting to do that wobbly walk.
Today they will also get their first worming treatment which they don't enjoy too much, but so necessary because parasites are so common for puppies. Jade is spending time away from her Mom duties, but she remains vigilant and does not allow visitors to the whelping box except for a chosen few in the family.
Pupdate

The puppies are growing so much! They have almost quadrupled their birth weight. They all have their eyes open and they are hearing us when we talk to them. This week, we start the weaning process and introduce them to puppy kibble. We have to grind it up in the blender and soak it in warm water, because they don't have teeth yet so it is more of a slurry or a milk shake than dog food. They make a huge mess! I will get some pictures.
This week it is very important to start to introduce new experiences to the puppies like new floor surfaces, different household sounds and toys in their whelping box to smell and explore. They are doing the wobbly walk now, but it won't be long before they are climbing out of their box. I wonder who will be first?
